Range finders for Bow Hunting

How the I-ON Optics LS101 Series Laser Rangefinder works.

I-ON Optics Laser Rangefinders take the guesswork out of judging the distance between you and your "target". Whether that target is big game, a tree to set up your bow shooting distance, a bail of hay for practice shooting, a flagstick, a bunker, the water hazard, or the green itself!

How do they work? Wonderfully!!

The unit projects an eye-safe laser to the target, which bounces it back to the sending unit, and in milli-seconds a distance reading is displayed in the viewfinder. A micro¬processor instantly calculates the length of time it took for the beam to hit the target and return. The distance can be displayed in meters or yards, your choice.

Our Laser Rangefinders are accurate from between plus or minus one yard. However, there are limitations and variables that must be addressed, as every target is different, along with the conditions at the time of the reading.

All Laser Rangefinders read the reflection from the surface of the target. Deer for instance, are not very reflective and the distance your Rangefinder can read will depend on lighting conditions, weather conditions, target size, angle of inclination, hand steadiness, and clarity of the zone/path to the target. For instance, dust, tree branches, brush and/or tall grass can all lead to a poor reading. Color of the target is also key to getting a good reading. Dark colors do not reflect as well as lighter colors. Overcast days will generate better readings than bright sunny days. The less sunlight the further your unit can acquire the target and the range will increase.

Practicing with your rangefinder and understanding these variables, will allow you to acquire your target much easier. In addition, I-On Optics Laser Rangefinders have 4 modes of operation to assist you in getting the best readings you can under different conditions. Remember, acquiring your readings is not an exact science, but with each mode of operation, you get a distinct advantage to get the reading you need.

Standard Mode: Will be used in most cases to provide an accurate reading.

Rain Mode: Use this setting to assist the rangefinder to cut through rain.

Refl Mode: This mode will help you cut through interference such as ground fog in the fairway in early mornings, or in and across a field. If electrical interference is suspected this mode will help "shoot" through it.

150>: This mode will help eliminate readings from brush in the path of the laser that may send back false readings. This mode should be used when acquiring targets over 150 yards.

Note also, that there is a "BATT" indicator in the viewfinder. When illuminated, it indicates that a new battery is recommended to assure the best performance possible.
